Yeah, take a sec to let that article title settle in.
Yup, pink Prosecco. Prosecco Rosé? Sparkling? Is this for real?
Yes. Yes it is. And it’s really, really good!
Our tour through Italy continues to give us bountiful gifts, as no one was expecting to get our hands on pink Prosecco. Mutterings of the pink prize were first bubbling up last year in news media and wine press publications, but the opportunity to get your hands on the new hot item, especially being one of the first in the US to acquire it for private label, well…let’s just say we couldn’t pass it up!
As always, our mantra is: don’t buy it just to have it. This was not the case here. Sometimes it takes years and years, decades even, to find the right expression of something at an intersection of quality and price worth putting our name on, but here was the new kid on the block at an astounding offer. We should have bought a lottery ticket that day (had we been back in CA, that is). However, we definitely hit the Italian jackpot.
For the uninitiated, Prosecco Rosé is the newly distinguished and recognized star from the Prosecco region of Italy, now DOC certified (DOC and DOCG Prosecco already exists, but none were legally able to produce a pink version), and very much in line with your standard Prosecco, albeit with a little tint of pink; 85%-ish Glera (the Prosecco grape) and the remainder, our old (ancient) friend, and sparkling wine’s favorite house guest, Pinot Noir.
A lovely addition to our Lot collection, and source of great excitement for our staff, we’re very excited to be bringing you pink Prosecco very soon, keep an eye on our emails for the announcement.
Cheers!
