Being in the midst of summer makes us feel like it’s time to take a fresh, lighter twist on everything. From our clothes, to our food, to our general mood. But why should it stop there? We know white wines and rosés are the perfect accompaniment to any lighter summer meal, and here are some creative ways to use the lighter wines you love to create fun winetails to impress!
1. Try a riff on the classic wine spritzer and change out the fruit for Cocchi Americano Rosa, an Italian aperitif. Simply pour 4 ounces of sparkling wine (We recommend our Lot 936) into an ice-filled rocks glass, then add 2 ounces Cocchi, a splash of club soda, and an orange wheel for garnish. Absolutely refreshing!
2. While we’re working with aperitifs and sparkling wine, but desiring a drink with more “oomph,” we love to combine ice with 2 ounces gin, 1 ounce of Aperol, 2 ounces of lime juice, and a half-tablespoon of honey in a shaker. Shake vigorously then strain into a coup glass, add a splash of club soda, or for the fearless drinker, a splash of the Lot 936 sparkling wine, and you’re all set!
3. Let it be said, we are totally on the rosé train. In fact, we love Frosé, but we think it’s time for a new twist on this oh-so-pervasive trend. Our own creation, the Blueberry Lavender Frosé, incorporates a new twist on this summer mainstay, and serves to impress on Instagram. Pour a bottle of Lot 881 Central Coast Rosé into a 9 x 13 pan and freeze until almost solid. Infuse 1 cup blueberries (sliced) and lavender (to taste) in hot simple syrup (½ cup granulated sugar, ½ cup water – bring to a boil then cut the heat) for 30 minutes, or until cool. Combine all ingredients in a blender with ice and blend for the ultimate summer refresher! Recommended for photo ops: garnish with a rosemary sprig with fresh blueberries.
