It is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day, and we decided to celebrate this year with Cameron’s favorite grilled cheese recipe and serving suggestions.
Cam says, keep it simple!
Too many folks nowadays use crazy cheese and fruit or protein combos. That is fine, but to really enjoy a grilled cheese it needs to be the classic recipe:
- Bread of choice, buttered on the outsides before grilling
- 2 slices of Kraft American cheese
- Hot cast iron skillet or toaster press, what ever you have available
- Side of tomato soup
That is it. Nothing fancy, just a fine American classic!
As for a perfect wine pairing, that depends on your palate. If you want to amp up the butter, we recommend our Lot 880 Arroyo Seco Chardonnay, and for the fans of red wines, the Lot 858 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will be your best friend.
For those who feel the absolute need to fancify their cuisine, you can always finish your tomato soup off with a drizzle of white truffle oil to really take this classic to the next level. As well, you can replace the classic tomato soup with a tomato basil bisque. And always remember to dip your sandwich in the soup when going these routes to get the fullest enjoyment.
