Red wine spilling on a light colored carpet to illustrate methods to clean stains

Wine Party Season Spills!

Here are our 2 favorite methods to remove ‘the party’ after all the guests have left!

1.  The Baking Soda Method:  Use a white cloth to blot as much of the stain as you can.  When you are no longer pulling up color form the spill, pour a little cold water directly on the stain and continue to blot until no more comes up.  Mix 3 parts water to 1 part baking soda and apply to the remaining are that is stained.  Allow to completely dry, then vacuum up the remainder of the stain.

2.  The Table Sale Method: As with the previous method, try and blot as much out of the carpet as possible, then use a little water and blot again till nothing more comes up.  Pour a generous amount of table salt over the affected area making sure to cover the stain.  Over a few hours (or overnight) the salt will pull the moisture and color agents out of the carpet and into itself.  Remove as much salt as you can after letting it sit and use a vacuum to remove remaining salt.
